NATALIA CHAMORRO

Natalia Chamorro is a bilingual poet, writer, and academic. 

 

Her poetry and creative nonfiction have been published in Latino Book Review, Latinx in Publishing, Low-Fi Ardentía Poetry Magazine, Low-Fi Ardentía Poetry Magazine, Contrapuntos, among other literary magazines. Her poems have been selected for the FILNY Anthology, Vol. II, 2022, and The Multilingual Anthology: The Americas Poetry Festival of New York, 2017. She published her debut book of poems, Reflejo escaparate, with Sudaquia Editores in 2023. 

 

As a writer, she has been awarded funding to further her work from the New York University Sylvia Molloy Tuition Grant, Creative Writing in Spanish, and the Herstory Writers Workshop Fellowship. She has facilitated creative writing workshops for community and cultural organizations, including the Queens Museum, CRECE, Uniting Generations (a program of Community Mediation Services), and CRECE Family Enrichment Center.

 

As an academic, she has received scholarly funding from the Tinker Travel Research Grant ( Latin American Artivism). Her research interest is the artistic feminist expression of Latin America. She is an  Adjunct Assistant Professor at Hofstra University and Stony Brook University. 

 

She holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literature from Stony Brook University (2021), an M.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of Connecticut, and a B.A. in Language and Culture from Purchase College. In 2019, she was a Writer Fellow for Herstory Writers Network, where she trained as a writing workshop facilitator.
